Questions about your privacy?
Write to the committee at mam.committee@gmail.com.
In brief
- You can browse the whole site without telling us who you are.
- We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. It does not tell us your name, email or other contact details.
- We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, for example when you become a member, donate, register for an event or contact us.
- We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
- You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time.
Website analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google LLC, to see how visitors use our website: for example, which pages and events are most popular, how people find the site, what type of device and browser they use, their approximate location (city or region), and which buttons they click, such as “Register”, “Become a member”, “Get directions” or “Add to calendar”.
Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to recognise a browser between visits. It assigns a random identifier, not your name or email address. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. We see this information only as statistics and reports, and use it to improve the site and plan our events. We have not enabled Google advertising features, and we keep analytics data for 14 months.
Google processes this data under its own policies. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. To stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses:
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, as described above.
- Functional cookies that may be used to help the site work, for example to remember that you have closed a pop-up message.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. The site will still work if you do.
Information you give us
Sometimes we ask for personal information such as your name, email address, phone number or mailing address, so that we can provide a service or keep in touch. This happens when you:
- Become a member, donate or subscribe to event updates. These forms are run by Zeffy, which processes payments securely. MAM receives your contact and membership or donation details, but never your full card number.
- Register for an event. Registration is usually done through a Google Form, a ticketing site, or links shared by the committee in our WhatsApp community. Those services have their own privacy policies.
- Contact us or volunteer. Messages sent through the forms on this site are emailed to the MAM committee so we can reply.
- Answer a survey or give event feedback. Taking part is always voluntary. If you share contact details, we use them only to respond to you or to improve future events.
How we use and share information
- We use your information only for MAM purposes: running memberships, events and programs, sending announcements, and replying to you.
- We do not sell, rent, lend or trade email addresses or other personal information.
- We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site and our programs (such as Google, Zeffy and our web host), or when required by law.
- We will not post personal contact information for members or volunteers, such as email addresses, street addresses or phone numbers, without that person’s consent.
Emails and opting out
If you give us your email address, you may receive emails about MAM programs, events and announcements. Every email includes an “unsubscribe” link. You can also opt out at any time by emailing mam.committee@gmail.com.
Third-party content and links
Some pages load content from other services, such as Google Fonts, Google Maps and our photo albums on Google Photos. The site also links to other sites, including Facebook. These services may collect information under their own privacy policies. MAM is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of other websites.
Children
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Registrations for children’s programs, such as Marathi Shala, are completed by a parent or guardian.
Your choices
You can ask us to update or delete the personal information you have given MAM, or ask us any question about this policy, by emailing mam.committee@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
